Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Mohammed's aspiration to become a doctor was sparked in kindergarten when his teacher predicted his future in medicine. This early encouragement led him to excel academically, earning the President’s Gold Medal scholarship in Mathematics, which provided seven years of free education. He chose to pursue medical studies in Trinidad, graduating as a top student. His passion for neurosurgery was ignited during his medical training, leading him to seek advanced training opportunities in Canada.

Dr. Mohammed's pursuit of advanced neurosurgical training brought him to Canada, where he connected with Dr. James T. Rutka at the University of Toronto. After completing his residency and a fellowship in spine surgery, he joined The Ottawa Hospital in 2016. His practice focuses on complex neurosurgical procedures, including awake brain surgeries, which involve operating on patients while they are conscious to ensure critical brain functions are preserved.

At The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Mohammed performs approximately 50 to 60 awake craniotomies annually, primarily for patients with brain tumors located near areas responsible for speech or movement. This technique allows for real-time mapping of brain functions, enhancing surgical precision and patient outcomes. His commitment to advancing neurosurgical techniques has been instrumental in the hospital's ability to offer cutting-edge treatments.
